How Does Pollination Work and Why is Pollination Important

What is pollination Have you ever noticed how pleasant many flowers smell? They have attractive scents, as well as bright colors, in order to attract insects. Insects use the nectar made by flowers as food. In the process of getting the food, the insects transfer pollen from flower to flower. The process of seed formation begins with this transfer of pollen grains from one flower to the stigma of another flower of the same kind. This transfer is called pollination. The main insects which pollinate flowers are bees and butterflies. These insects feed on the sweet, sugar liquid called nectar that is usually produced by special cells in the receptacle. On its way to the nectar, the insect has to pass the flower’s anthers, which are covered in pollen. How long does it take for a bee to die after stinging?

After stinging the honeybees cannot retract their stinger, so they die soon after. These bees are no more desirable in the nest and other bees are not friendly to them. In an experiment with five bees, which were placed in a cage and returned to the hive after stinging, it was found that they lived for 6, 38, 96 and 102 hours, receiving food through the cage, with whom they were protected. Usually, bee’s guts come out with the stinger, and that’s why some of them die faster than others. Thus, it is recommended for people who practice Bee Venom Therapy to kill the bee right away after it stings, to end its suffering.  If a bee stings another bee, the other dies immediately.
