How long does it take for a bee to die after stinging?

After stinging the honeybees cannot retract their stinger, so they die soon after. These bees are no more desirable in the nest and other bees are not friendly to them.

How long does it take for a bee to die after stinging?

In an experiment with five bees, which were placed in a cage and returned to the hive after stinging, it was found that they lived for 6, 38, 96 and 102 hours, receiving food through the cage, with whom they were protected. Usually, bee’s guts come out with the stinger, and that’s why some of them die faster than others.

Thus, it is recommended for people who practice Bee Venom Therapy to kill the bee right away after it stings, to end its suffering.

If a bee stings another bee, the other dies immediately.
